Andre Heeg, MD, PhD
My name is Andre Heeg. I’m the managing director and founder of docdre ventures GmbH. I left practicing as a maxillo-facial reconstructive surgeon behind to build digital businesses and push the boundaries of healthcare. 🚀🚀🚀
docdre ventures GmbH is my personal angel investment firm aiming to support visionary founders of early healthcare related startups. I'm putting "money where my mouth is" to drive forward the disruption in healthcare through digital. 💰📈
I loved working as a surgeon, it was very practical and hands-on. You see immediate impact: Someone comes in, you operate and fix it, the patient is better. 👨🏻⚕️🩹
I calculated that if I was a surgeon for 40 years, I’d probably reach 100,000 people and impact their lives directly. That’s great, but it’s not millions of people. I wanted to learn how I could make an impact on a bigger scale. ↗️
I joined online medical care appointment booking service Zocdoc in New York, the city I had dreamed of living in since my childhood, and later became Chief Digital Officer at Sandoz, helping to unlock the potential of the company’s massive scale through digitization. 🗽
Today, I am a Managing Director and Partner at BCG Digital Ventures, where I’m inventing, building and scaling new business models and start-ups together with leading healthcare companies and institutions from all around the world. 🌎

BTW, I started my business career as a strategy consultant with McKinsey & Company within their healthcare practice. I hold a M.D., D.D.S. and PhD from the University of Heidelberg and University of Freiburg, Germany. 🤓👨🎓
